My best hope is to find a base model 2007 that has some of the options I want and the ability to add more in the future.
I have looked at these since Jan and it seems that the "deals" in Dec are not that much different than January. I do think they are offering the car at a lesser price than 11 months ago and 0% , but I still can't fathom spending $450 and up a month.

some time ago (during this summer) I researched a Corvette for my wife - beside a few brand new ones (all loaded and priced insanely high) the dealer had several preowned '07s with up to 10k miles on them, and they were all expensive too (as much as $10-15k over brand new base '07 MSRP), they all had extra options etc, sort of similiar scenario you're experiencing. I didn't like any of them and expressed to the salesman that I'd rather get bare no-options, brand new minty-clean model at MSRP (or close to it, I know dealer needs to make profit as well), then preowned one - I pointed out unneeded/undesired equipment, soiled interiors, worn tires, milage etc, and then asked that unless he can shave off significant sum out of those preowned, if he can get me base '07 coupe and that I'm not in any rush with it at all - he went to talk with the boss. There was no better deal on the preowned ones possible, however he said that they can get me the brand new base '07 @ MSRP in about 1-2 weeks and to let them know if I'm up for it... so I guess it's really up to the dealer - they can apparently order a vehicle to meet customer's needs & price expectations, as long as they're realistic. BTW the dealer had positive experience with us from the past, knowing we'll pay cash right away if we like the vehicle.
So, try to ask your dealer about '07 or '08 base model; they should be able to provide you with such a vehicle hopefully - if first dealer won't, try a different one? Good Luck!
