Just got the skid plate done last week. I'm pleased with the way it turned out although I plan on having the raised H2 portion polished. So far the painted grill is holding up fine with no chips.
37inch Procomp Xterrains or GY MTRs to come. . .
So what do you think??

To be honest, I really don't know what the body shop did. They didn't seem to have any reservations about doing it and they never acted like paint chipping would be an issue. They provide a 1 year warranty so 11 months from now I might go back for a redo if necessary.
So far no complaints, only compliments.

Looks great - how about another shot from straight ahead so we can better appreciate the paint work on the grill (which by the way should be an option for the 2004 H2)

The only problem I see with this is as soon as you scrape something it's going to look bad. Otherwise it looks great!

The cost was only 40 dollars which I thought was a bargain! They removed my skidplate and I drove around without it for a few days while it was sprayed and cured.
Actually scratches are easily touched up with Rhino Liner! The cost will only be $5-10 dollars for touch ups. I can assure you it looks better now than with all the scratches on the aluminum. The liner also filled in some fairly large dents and scrapes.
Thanks for your interest, I'll keep everyone posted on how it holds up out on the trails.

Here is the photo you requested.
In it, the grill appears darker than the hood, but in person the two match seamlessly. Now to get the "H2" polished so it will stand out.

Actually, the work was performed in Fort Worth.
Grill was done at Winstead Paint & Body - 817 737 6326
Skid Plate done by Frank Kent's PitStop - 817 560 4293
I think both of these modifications are pretty straightforward and could be completed by any good body shop or sprayed-on-liner type establishment.

I don't mind at all, especially for the "H2 Forum Godfather". It was $150. I had it done while my truck was already in the shop to repaint the door that had been keyed.
I'm not certain how the HUMMER letters were done although I can tell you they are still the original gray color. I guess they just taped them off.
I think your truck would look great with a blacked-out grill. It would continue with the no chrome theme you have going. I know what a frugal pragmatist you are, so this would be a great way to drastically change the H2's appearance without dropping too much loot.

Longhorn, $150 is a great price, cheap thrill. More importantly, I like the look of the job done on your Hummer. I've been searching up and down to add or change something on my Hummer, so far after 10 months, I havn't seen anything I like at any prices. Looks like I will drive over to a few paint shops nearby to ask around. Should be a piece of cake for them. Thanks.

Mac..... Just fyi I have a black grill hanging in my garage right now that cost me $150 to get painted.... Make sure the paint shop takes the chrome off before they paint. A friend is an auto painter took my grill and basically, reversed the chroming process....dipped the grill to strip the chrome....in what I do not know.... then it was painted.Should have no problem with chipping...
I'll get some pictures this weekend....
You do not want to sand blast the grill because the heat of that process could effect the shape of the grill.
