Lift kit 12"

I was looking at ordering a 12" lift from fts but it was around $4000. I found whiplash makes a 14" for $3000. I was wondering if anybody has heard or used this lift. I was also wanting to know what else I will need to do as far as driveshafts and steering. Please give me your input. Thanks Blake

I owe you a PM. I would be careful with the 14" kit. The 12" from BPS is a great kit. PM me with your phone number and I can give you some good info.

You will need to lenghten the rear driveshaft and also put a CV joint on the front and lengthen it a bit as well.

Steering is takne care of with the kits-----the install of these kits are not for the timid and not for untrained mechanics.

If someone has not done one before, do not let them experiment on your H2.

HUMMERSGONEWILD you have a new PM. The 14" kit is $3000 shipped to my door. All the other kits are like $4500 shipped yo my door. Then I have to get drive shafts done which is like $1000 and installation is $1500 then wheels and tires. Im just not sure which kit to go with. Please give me BPS website and help me decide which lift is best for the money cause I dot want to spend aton on just a lift. Thanks Blake

how much does the rear driveshaft need to be lengthen? I have the BP 12".

Sounds like HGW gave his expert opinion pretty clearly. Why would you want to spend an add'l 1000 on a 3000 dollar kit that HGW made clear how good the BPS kit is.

Sounds to me, you've got it in your mind that you want the extra 2" and you're trying to justify it.

Go with HGW's advice and stay with the 12" complete kit. You'll be much happier in the long run.

Sorry that I cannot give you an exact measurement on the new length of the driveshaft.

Each H2 is slightly different so we install the stock driveshaft AFTER the kit is installed and then measure the distance from the end of the driveshaft to the rear diff. It is usually around 1.75 to 2.0 inches that it should be lengthened.

I just had to lenghten mine two inches for a 6 inch fabtech lift. Probably could have gotten away with 1 inch but I dont like how far out the tailshaft the lift pulls the rear drive shaft. I tried stock first but got a droning at about 80 mph. Also it only cost me 200 dollars to get the drive shaft work done. Did not need any CV work though. Pay the money and get it done right otherwise you will regret it for thousands of miles of vibrations and clunks.

I am surprised that a Fabtech 6" would need a rear driveshaft extension of 2".

We usually do not lenthen driveshafts on a 6" kit.
