What the hell is up with the rear bumper lights

I had no issues for years with mine. All of a sudden they are burning out very quickly. First it was the just one side, now both are doing it.

I could give a sh*t about the bumper lights as they're redundant. But you know who is gonna get me one of these days......

Anyone have any info on this being a known 'issue" ?

Yes, I did check one, and it is corroded. I sprayed it with contact cleaner, brushed it, and filled it with electric grease.... still burns out.

I must admit the job I did cleaning the corrosion wasn't that great. Tight spot to get to, and then a tight spot to reach down in between the contacts.

But, it does make sense. They started burning out when I started making regular trips to the mountain on roads that have been sanded etc.....

So it's safe to say changing the sockets out won't be a waste of time?

Problem is the sockets should be changed as well as the connectors should be as well on the truck harness side. I know from gm if you want the sockets you have to buy the whole lamp housing as a unit. Not sure if you can get them aftermarket

In case you still need sockets you can get them seperately. Mine were corroded so just replaced both. $6 each socket. Part#: 12335899 at the dealer.
