First time poster.. long time lurker. I searched for answers on this.. but I have a Genie garage door opener and following the procedure on the homelink site and the manual I cannot get it to work.

Are there any tricks to this or am I just missing somthing?

It is a little tricky and every garage door opener works differently. You may want to call Genie to find out if there is anything specific you should know. I think there are two types of programming for garage doors. If yours has a "rolling code" the process is a bit more in depth. Follow the users manual and that should work. It took me a bit to get mine programmed but now it works like a champ.

Good luck!

I agree with HummerLvr. I have the rolling code one and it is a pain in the butt to program especially if you are trying to do 2 or 3 remotes at the same time. I downloaded the instructions from their website.

I have the Genie too. I pushed the button next to the red light on the back of the unit. I ran over to my new 2005, White, Nav, U running boards, Off road lights, Hummer (hehe) and pressed the button for two seconds and then let off and then repeated holding the button down for two seconds and let go. It worked.
