Good read!

Unions heart teh cock! Nothing more than leaches and in the end of it all... it's the consumer that pays the price.

Doesn't piss me off, but blame goes to those idiots back in the 60s/70s who signed the contracts with the Unions. Back when GM/Ford/Chrysler were kings of the auto world, they could have refused to sign.
Unions were good in the early days, helping to bring safety into the plant, but they started a hierarchy that is stagnating the large corporations.
I will say that not all UAW workers feel this way, some are very practical, and understand they have had a pretty good ride and it has to be trimmed down in order to save their jobs. After working in a plant, alongside many UAW workers, my thoughts are it is 50/50 with those who work hard, respect the company and understand hard times, versus those who could care less if they had a job tomorrow or not.
Next year should be one to watch, GM/Ford/Chrysler will have to get a lot of concessions such as no more job banks, union to at least pay as much for healthcare as the salaried, and if you don't work, you hit the door.

Well Put F5...

The best Days were the 60's 70's... There are Plus's and Minus's on both sides. The way I see it the Big 3 will be around to continue the Inovation's they created back in the day. Least we for get Box "X" frames Corvette's Fuel Injection and a host of other things the General and the Other American Auto Makers Brought forth in our Cars.

I don't listen to the neh sayers... There full of Crap. GM is going thru some changes but I belive they will be around with the help of there workers to
pull the Company thru these hard times.

As stated before ..I will support the General and buy GM..

You just don't flush a Company the Size of the General and all that it's done for Aamerica down the tubes.

As the saying goes. "My Country Right Or Wrong"

The same applies here "My Car Company Right Or Wrong"

Want another thing to mull over about unions? Governments with union workers, Federal, State, City, who when they get a pay raise or the entity is required to deposit X-millions of dollars to a pension plan, do so by raising your taxes.
These unions will be the last ones to come to their senses, since it is so easy for a government to just raise taxes to cover the pay raises, healthcare and pensions of these people.
Let's not forget utility companies controlled by the state as a monopoly. One of the local power companies here in MI, received permission from the state a few months ago, for an increase to pay for their require pension funding.
I often think that in a few years, when I'm living in a tent located in the desert eating snakes and lizards (while waiting for my non-existent GM pension), the only people I will see driving by will be retired civil servants driving around in their Toyotas. What a thought....

well vet i am currently a eployed worker for gm. and i do agree with a few points but everywhere you go you are going to get dumb a**'s and it goes alot deeper than that, for instance you served in nam and i solue u for that but the problem is all US work going over seas and all the dumb a**'s buying the forign cars. if there is an item in a stores that cost more but made in america i will spend more money to keep my money in america. it al comes down to "HAVING PRIDE IN YOUR COUNTRY" and i am not saying u don't but untill amerians start buying american products it will always be forign sh*t is cheaper. as to your post title yes it does pi*s me off. im sorry for rambling but big bus taking over little mom and pop stores stops happening there will be no work in this country and we will all be FUC*ED. GOD BLESS THE USA

GM execs took some big pay cuts, and I will agree they appear to be overpaid. However, the brain trust to run a large organization such as GM/Ford, etc., is very competitive.
There were a lot of mistakes made at the executive/engineering level by the auto manufacturers; I agree.
As for the imports, they are not stuck with the legacy costs of the US manufactures living off of union contracts, and the governments of the other countries playing with their money rates.
The UAW is one of the loudest to scream, yet I can remember back when the electronics industry went down due to the UAW members (and all other Americans) purchasing imported TVs at a better cost.
