Ready to buy new front end- Need a couple quick answers
I'm going all MOOG.
Idler
Idler Pivot
Pitman
Lower ball joints, only because I ripped the boot on one side
Timken Hubs
I'm running stock sized tires with 8.5" Rockstar rims (+offset w/in HUMMER spec)
Should I get the Cognito support kit?
Pitman arm- are all H2's a 3 groove?
Need to order tonight ASAP so any input is greatly appreciated!

Re: Ready to buy new front end- Need a couple quick answers
Well.... Ya'll weren't quick enough so I ordered both the 3 and 4 groove and will send one back.
I ended up ordering from Rock Auto. Even before the coupon code of 8DC7D212FF36 gave me 5% off it was still cheaper than ordering from Amazon.
Still need to know opinions on the Cognito kit. Now's the time.

Yep, order the support kit. That damn front end needs all the help you can give it, even with the stock size tires.

$225 is a steal man if you are getting everything for that. What was your final list again? I need to upgrade my front end too....

Re: Ready to buy new front end- Need a couple quick answers
LOL.. that did look confusing didn't it.
I was referring to JUST the purchase of the Cognito support kit... it's 225.00.
All the parts listed, minus the Cognito support kit, came to 646.00. Got it all from Rock Auto with the 5% off coupon.

What he said. You're going to be in there doing the work anyway, or at least having someone do it for you. Might as well get the support kit and be done with it.

Re: Ready to buy new front end- Need a couple quick answers
Sucks that this has to be done at 50k without the need for another 225.00 part. I should have just ordered cheaper idler/pitman to help pay for the support kit.
Good Lord

Re: Ready to buy new front end- Need a couple quick answers
Just ordered the support kit from Off Road Warehouse. 225.00 shipped.
FYI- Cognito said to install this before your alignment, in my case since I'm doing other front end work, or get an alignment after this part is installed.

Depending on the mechanic, you may or may not need the alignment. After mine was installed he checked the alignment and the front didn't change from the last time I had my mechanic do the alignment.

Re: Ready to buy new front end- Need a couple quick answers
Good to know. If you have the resource that makes you feel good about it and your 2000 + dollar tires than all the better.

Re: Ready to buy new front end- Need a couple quick answers
I have most of these same parts sitting in a box ready to go in (Moog Pitman & Idler, Cognito Support Kit). Are there any special tools required to pull/install the Pitman and Idler?

Re: Ready to buy new front end- Need a couple quick answers
for the pitman arm, you can pick up/rent a puller at autozone.
i didnt use one on mine. i remember i banged on it for awhile with a hammer, and a ball joint remover. i just remembered that it sucked and took some time. so might be in your interest to pick up a puller and make it easier on yourself

Re: Ready to buy new front end- Need a couple quick answers
I've read to use the puller you need to loosen the gear box, FYI.
Mine looks rusted to ****. It spent the first 24 k of its life in Orlando, right by the beach and all it's salty air. I'll probably end up just grinding mine off with a grinder.
