RC rock crawlers are a blast! I got an Axial AX10 about a year ago and still haven't gotten bored with it.

I love my Summit... like the little hummer.. I think as close to the HX as i'll get.. 
i love the 2 speed tranny and locking diffs on the remote.

My 9 year old just bought an Axial AX10. He has been wanting one for a LONG time, and has been saving every dollar of his birthday money and from working for granny and grandpa. I found a used one with upgraded suspension and motor for $200. He loves it. (So do I!) They really are addictive.
