Dimming on factory NAV with 'auto' light function...
I normally leave the headlights on the 'auto' function, today while driving home from work the display on my 04's factory NAV unit goes really dark, not quite off but pretty close. Thinking the worst I start trying my options, I turn the lighting nob to parking and the display comes back, same with the headlights so I now know the display actually still works. Is there some sort of fuse or relay that may have blown causing the auto dimming on the nav unit to not work with the auto dimming on the headlights?
To be a little more clear, with the 'auto' headlight function selected, the nav unit is dark when the DRL's are on but lights to its normal brightness with parking lights or headlights.

Depending on the year, there is a setting in the options to shut off the auto day/night feature and I also believe there is a brightness option. Go to menu and start looking around under either Nav or display. I dont recall where they are in the screen.

I did all that and at the time but changing the settings on the unit itself didn't make a difference once I switched the headlight settings back to auto, the deck would still turn off (assuming this was during the day and the DRL's were the only lighting needed), if it was a dusk or night the parking and headlights came on and the backlight on the nav unit went to a viewable level.
The stupid thing is everything worked fine this morning on my drive home from work, sooo.. I either have a new ghostly friend or in my sleepless stupor I hit something on the dash near the lighting that turned the display off? We'll see how long it works I guess, good thing I'm planning on replacing the unit later down the road.
