I was following an h2 the other day, and was admiring the clearance (it looked to be about the same as my taco)...
when I pull up next to it, I noticed some gay steps... (looked like a couple nerf bars stacked)
they cut the clearance in 1/2...
just something I noticed on the highway...

No they don't. The detachable U-Steps do remove fairly easy.
However, those with those steps often wait in line to have them removed at our outtings anyway.

My first outing with mine, I didn't even clue in to remove them. Right one is bent to hell.
Since being on the Forum, I realized I was not alone .
I still put them on for esthetic reasons.

lol
the first time I ran the creek at wellsville (not a deap creek, but lost of rocks...) it was before I knew to remove the mudflaps...
I ripped the front one off...lol
so stupid me, went on the forum, and posted a wanted add...
I ended up getting a front set for $25 shipped, so I wasn't upset, but now, I have 3 front mudflaps, and 2 rear just sitting in the garage...lol

Has anyone made these factory "gay ass step" quick disconnect. I'm thinking about making that happen.
I have to run some kind of step or my 9 and 10 year old kids can't get in. 37s with 3 inch lift.

I happen to like the look with the "nerf bar" steps and I leave them on when I am off-road. They are not terribly expensive ($200-$300 if memory serves me) and they protect the body and the real nerf bars from dents and scrapes. Even though they lessen the ground clearance, I have been hung up only once because of them and I probably would have been hung up anyway since one side was in a bottomless mudhole. I'd just rather replace the steps from time to time rather than have body work done on the rig.
