Default 4^Lock Stuck

So I got back into the truck today from a 5 min errand and my 4^Lock button was lit up. Nobody touched it, Im the only one that drives it, no accidentally hit it. Take it off, and start to drive. Mind you the correct light is on now (4high) not locked and it sounds like it is still locked and binding around turns. Turned the car off, cycled buttons, cycled through gears, went in reverse a few feet, and every combination of the typical 4WD problem fixes and it still feels to be locked. Has this ever happened to anyone and what was the fix?

I have 2k miles left on my extended warranty but I just got back from the stealership 2 days ago, fighting to have them fix stupid stuff that always is "back ordered" parts, ie: windshield molding, broken AC vents, radio buttons. I feel like I have been sabotaged because I threw fit to get my truck fixed under warranty. Truck has run almost flawlessly until this. Leaves dealership and takes a crap. Figure that one out. 06 H3, LUX/ADV Thanks all! Cheers!

If you are in 4H the dif locker should not be on or engage, if you are stuck on the middle of the 4x4 control buttons then your power has been split 50/50 front and back and it will feel tighter.

If you can't select the left hand button to put it into 4H on road which gives you 40/60 split then your button is stuck.

I've had this happen, take out the cigarette lighter and give the whole dash a good pull from the bottom, it will release upwards.

You have to disconnect all the plugs on the back and then you will see a module behind all the buttons, take that off, take apart and clean every slider for the buttons with a small paint brush, I've had to do this a couple of times with sand coming into the cabin, the air vents are right above the buttons and the grove's which the buttons slid in and out don't need much to clog them.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply mailsurf. The car was physically not reacting to the 4H button being lit. There was not a stuck button. It was even going into 4low and then when pressing 4H it was remaining locked in 4H lock (50/50 w/ locked rear). I ending up disconnecting the battery for about an hour letting he system completely reset and it seems to be fine now. We'll see if the problem represents itself when I use the locker system again.

I appreciate the info on the switches because we are frequently in the dunes and Im sure that fix will be an inevitable necessity. Cheers!!
