I usually have the dealer do it but I am planning to start doing it myself.
also any concensus in this group best to use like synthetic or best brand etc...
I plan to drive this beast as long as I can and try to replace oil every 3k miles.

Indy _ agree that it will surely feel good. I do air filters and cabin filters etc... tbut hose are nothing.
ps: how much oil though?
Mine takes a hair less than 6 qts with the filter. I can't over emphasize what has been said about the filter to tighten it well. With the skid plate you might not get all the torque you want on it with your hand, so I always use a filter wrench too. I've always used Mobil 1 synthetic in my engine and changed every 4000 miles which is normally @ 30% oil life left on my dash display.
