Tools for H2

Does the H2 have both standard and metric size bolts on it? If I'm buying a tool kit to keep in it, do I need both? So far all I've done is remove the skid plate and change the oil and those were standard sizes.

well it defenitely does have metric sizes in it, as well.

most of the SC install was metric, but seems like dropping the tank needed standard - as did the rock rails.... guess it depends on your own skills, as well..

i'd recommend 3/8 drive deep sockets [metric and standard]

and remember stuff that doesn't come in tool sets; like zip-ties, rags and tape. [maybe a serpentine belt]

IMHO.

the only break-down I've had in mine was when the trans cooler line burst inside the radiator. No Reasonable amout of tools/spares would have helped me there.

anyway, I personally hope carry them around all the time and never need any.

Thanks. That what I was assuming but wanted to be sure. Guess I'll head off to my friendly Costco and pick up one of their nicely packaged tool kits to throw in it.

Actually I do have AAA. You should see all the free maps I have. I also have a tool box in my garage full of Craftsman and Snap-on tools. But for just carrying some tools in a handy tote for temporary repairs, it's hard to beat a Costco-type set.

Given my limited mechanical skills that you apparently know so much about, I generally just use my best tool for fixing things which is a little piece of plastic. I don't even get my hands dirty.

Looks like it's time to start another thread on tool quality and which company actually makes which tools.

Hey Bill, just making a little joke; not trying to start a flame-war, I promise.

And you're right: Thin plastic can fix most anything.

As for tool quality - I'd just say that a craftsman is not defined by his tools - rather his skill.

You need these sizes of sockets and wrenches:
8, 10, 13, 15, 18, 19, 21, 22mm
I can't think of anything on the H2 that uses standard sizes.
