Tuner and PCM
So decided to take the diablo tuner off of my C6 as I never drive it and use it on the H2. Restored original tune back to C6 to unlock tuner. Everything is fine.
Take it over to Hummer. Select vehicle type so on and so forth. Then go to tunes. It backs up the original fine. But while flashing the new tune gets an error. Says cant read pcm. Shuts off.
When I turned it back on it says flash unsuccessful restoring original. Ok I guess. Restores fine. Take tuner off. Go to start H2...silence.
PCM fried? Thoughts?
Also how do I remove the PCM for replacement?

Re: Tuner and PCM
Pull the battery for awhile and try again.
If that doesn't work, contact diablo tech support.
They say it is hard to fry a PCM with the latest tuners.
I had a u7190 tuner and I fired my PCM. I had to send it in to diablo to have them flash it and upgrade the tuner to a U7193 model.
So, see what you can do with the battery..only thing you can do till tech support opens in the morning.

Re: Tuner and PCM
Okay talked to Diablo. They are going to take care of everything. Just need to send tool and PCM in to them.
So anyone know how to remove it? Don't want to break anything.

Re: Tuner and PCM
you know where it is located at i hope...
you will prolly need a stool to stand on.
open the hood
drivers side, locate the fuse box there...look down between the battery and the fuse box. it will have a plastic shroud over it.
remove the shroud, and it is 2 bolts that hold the wiring on. iirc it was either 8mm or 10mm socket
if the gaskets come off with the PCM, dont send it. i did, and they sent it back with my PCM, but they dont need it.
when putting it back on, put the gasket on the wiring harness instead ofthe PCM and bolt it together.
also, shipping i was quoted like $140ish to ship overnight with fedex
if you want fast return shipping, call diablo once they have it and tell them.
also put a post it note with your full VIN # on the PCM.
put anything you need on there as well...
37 inch tires, 4.88 gears so they can put that in when they reflash it.
ya i really dont understand how they think they can have banker hours when they sell products that affect peoples abilities to get to work, and $$$.
this sounds just like my situation. reflashed the PCM and upgraded my tuner.. it sucks for how much downtime will be involved.
they will most likely send out the PCM the same day they recieve it... the rest of the time is all shipping. i was out of my H2 for over a week. fried it on a friday, shipped on monday, and got it back the next monday. this happened about 10 mins after i just got new gears installed too.. so i was excited about trying it out. i only drove my H2 for 5 mins before i fried it, the other 5 mins was finding my tuner and hooking it up.
BTW....
once you get your PCM back and hooked up... dont expect it to start up right away.
try to start the vehicle up, but most likely it will just turn over and never start.
you will notice the security lockout icon lite up.
you have to le tthe PCM learn your vehicle. it is a simple but time consuming process..
insert key and try to start the vehicle. do not turn the key off, let it sit in the "ON" position for 12 minutes
turn key OFF and remove key, wait 5 to 10 secs, and put key back in and just turn to the ON position ( dont try to start)
do this a total of 3 times.
start- on wait 12 mins- off remove key- on wait 12 mins- off remove key- on wait 12 mins- off remove key and start H2 up normally.
same sites say you might be able to start after the 1st 10 mins.. i did all 3 before trying. should start right up after the 3rd cycle.
you should only have to do this 1 time...

Re: Tuner and PCM
Just as a precaution I would hook up a battery charger while flashing your ECU. If the volts drop the tuner won't speak properly to the ECU which can cause all sorts of problems.
