Going Hummerless
we had a black h3 lux and loved it but almost a year ago our lease ran out and neither gm nor our dealer were able to offer us a decent buyout deal or a better extended lease. shows you what a-holes those gm morons are. in any case, we still gaze lovingly each time we pass a hummer and say what a great vehicle it was. but now we get fantastic gas mileage and luxuriopus rides in our three 2009 and 2010 vw models -- a silver passat wagon, a black gti, and a yellow beetle convert. so there actually is another life after hummer!

Re: Going Hummerless
I've had two of them and aside from some quality issues like moldings falling off and electronics quirks enjoyed the cars. No truck though, you must have used the Hummer as a car to be able to slide into a VW that easily. Good luck with them, they do handle great.

Re: Going Hummerless
yeah, the hummer essentially was used as a car, the last of a string of suvs we had over the years (jeep, toyota, mb, etc.) hauling shopping, dogs etc. again, we'd have one today if we had gotten another great lease deal, or gm gave us the kind of deal that made us want to keep the black lux we had. actually, we never had one problem with the hummer in 27 months except for a tire that went bad and was replaced gratis by the dealer. no problems thus far with the vws either.

Re: Going Hummerless
one of our freinds and neighbor both have VW's.
He has TDI Jetta modded out with meth injection. It hauls a$$ and still gets 50mpgs. My neighbor just bought herself one as well.
You should have picked up an R32. Those things are good fun and still handle OK in teh snow from what my buddy tells me. fast car anyhow.

Re: Going Hummerless
btw- tell VW to get these into the US.
I'll get one and haul it around on my roof rack to local autocross track.
