Slotted roters - what kind to get
Not looking to break the bank. Just something to replace my warped rotors up front and improve stopping power for the 20" wheels I have coming.
Slotted, not drilled.
What kind of pads should I get? Obviously want a low dust, quality pad.
Thanks.

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
Look into brakemotive
The corvette guys seem to be very happy with them.
I think you can get all 4 corners with pads for a few hundred. definitely not bad and have been proven by corvette drivers.
I think they can be found on the net or on ebay
just type in brakemotive...
(I am in no way associated with them nor do I have them to make hands on opinion)

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
Thanks. There doesn't seem to be a rotor option for H2. Does the H2 share rotors with any other Gm trucks?

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
Hmmm.... those are drilled and slotted.
Drilled are problematic aren't they?? Shouldn't I be looking at JUST slotted??

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
Ended up with power slot equivalent from these guys. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390711855146...146%26_rdc%3D1
A bit cheaper than the power slots, supposedly the same quality and better warranty.

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
I had a bad experience with slotted rotors, made a clicking sound every time the slots hit the pads. There is nothing wrong with drilled as long as the holes are chamfered to resist cracking.

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
Bummer.... what brand was that?
I have never once read or been told to get drilled rotors due to the cracking issues. To add to that, I've been told the holes don't do much. Just what I've been told though. I have no real world experience with them.
Just added stainless lines to my order.

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
Ok, here is the issue I think is coming through
What is being talked about is the rotors on performance cars being heated up and cracking....
Well think about how hard a performance car putting the brakes on... sure lots of heat build up really fast. And yu usually only buy performance brakes to do "performance braking". Of course now everyone feels that the performance stuff is better so let me put it on my daily driver...... they dont usually have too many issues.
As LJ did say, the drilled are fine as long as they give them that radius chamfer, slotted do grab alot more and depending on the braking and the pads, could click (as he stated)
Given I have never heard of the ebay setup you bought, I just recommended the ones I have heard of because they are a big talk on the Corvette board (and damn if they dont try to put the best on their cars no matter what...)
Hope this helps.
Let us know how it all pans out

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
I've had mine for a few months now and I absolutely love them. That combined with steel braided lines is a great upgrade and huge improvement. I can't believe I waited as long as I did!

Great points, the vette guys love trying out cheaper, more cost effective aftermarket upgrades. They were the guys who really hit OBX headers hard and loved the hell out of them. Even for as cheap as the headers are if they'll perform for the vette crowd then they will definitely suffice for my H2 when I make that move.
PDX, what brand did you end up going with? Any link?

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
http://www.r1concepts.com/category/s...otors/allbrand
I got their rotors, ceramic pads (no brake dust- they're great) and stainless lines.
They sent two of the same side rotor for the back, so I ended up getting powerslot or EBCs (can't remember) for the back. The holes are chamfered and it's all that was available same day delivered to the shop who did the work. (yep..... got lazy on this one )
I can't say it enough. HUGE increase in stopping power.
Between the brakes upgrade, OBX long tubes, Diablo tune from DiabLEW, k/n air filter, and tranny servo this is an entirely different truck.
Now if only the windshield would quit breaking!
I've actually been thinking blower....but in a year this is going to my daughter and I'll be getting an SUT. I might, at that point, forgo the diablew diablo tune in favor of a blower and long tubes.

Re: Slotted roters - what kind to get
Good to see this place up and still going! I came here because I couldn't remember what brakes I had gotten for the old h2, just that they were the best I'd had.
H2 is gone. Sold it local so still get to see it all the time.
Hope you all are well!
