It's not Japanese, it's Chinese.
The first 2 symbols roughly translate to selfless bravery, sort of hero-ish.
3 is kind heart, 4 is polite, and together they mean good mannered.
5 is honest
6 and 7 mean good reputation.
8 and 9 mean complete loyalty to someone- in a good way, not as in gangster loyalty.
Chinese symbols are fairly complex in meaning, so there was more to the translation, but I was too lazy to write all of it down.
