Default The truth behind those $#@*!# gas prices

Found this on MSN and found it an interesting read, thought you guy's might like to read it. End of the day it all boils down to the environmentalists blocking the new development and construction of some much needed refineries. According to the article current US production of Gasoline per day is 17million barrels, current daily demand is 22million, therefore, the US needs to import 5 million barrels a day just to sustain itself, now throw in a harsh winter or severe tropical storm this quickly damages the supply ratio causing the US to purchase more in order to compensate for the difference. Since the US cannot produce any more internally it has to go externally to purchase it's requirments and help replenish what was lost or used up. This leaves them wide open to global oil pricing predominately controlled by the Saudi's and since they will sell their oil only to the highest bidder (changes daily) that leaves everyone out in the dark when it comes to pricing. How do we stop this? Build four to five new refineries that can stabalize the demand and prices, buy more oil from Canada and stabalize the North American gas prices. Domestic made gas is way cheaper to produce because it does not have to travel so far in order to get to it's final destination. Oil companies break even when the price per barrel is around $20-$25US/Barrel, if we could get the price per barrel down to the $40-$50 mark we would be laughing.

Those $#@*!# gas prices

Cheers!

With a government that is as straight-up CORRUPT as ours, we can expect it to get worse. How much worse? It's up to our government ,meaning we're screwed!

I absolutely 100% Draw back is that it has not been going on for just three years, it's been going on for a hell of alot longer than that...domestic produced gas or oil products costs no more than $20.00US/barrel to produce, and even at this price oil companies make a crap load of cash! If based on 17 million barrels a day being produced that would be an average daily haul of $340million dollars a day! When the world price of crude is $66.00US/barrel (I Believe that is todays current price), if we just compare the difference, that would equate to $782Million dollars/day!!! But how would we implement a two tier gas price system? one for domestic and one for imported? Impossible it will never happen...answer is reduce offshore dependancy for fuel, especially flaky unstable countries such as Nigeria, Venezuela, and especially the middle east! Get the troops home and let them (People in mideast countries) take care of thier own flippin problems out there. Stop being the worlds police force!! Especially if your military presence is unappreciated! My favorite statement is "RULES OF WAR" who TF came up with that????In order to have rules you need to ensure all parties will accept them, it's fundamentally flippin useless if your side is the only one observing them!! Severe Problem's coming from a village or city? LEVEL IT!!! ASK QUESTIONS LATER!! Don't give people time to escape...sorry but this is how war's should be delt with, like the Romans use to say "UNLEASH THE DOGS OF WAR"... all gloves off...army with the best toy's wins!!

Yea yea I know, I digressed a little bit!

Cheers!

Because we're suckers?

The Canadian dollar is soon to be level with the US dollar, yet we're still paying through our noses for EVERYTHING, as if the exchange rate were from 3 years ago. Do you see anybody complaining? Nope. We're Canadians, we're polite...

Our medical plan doesn't offset the stupid amounts we pay for everything, from groceries, to products, fuel, and of course taxes upon taxes.

But we get winter, FOR FREE!!!

To answer your question on whether it's any good or not, that largely depends on the area you live and the Hospital in your area. I've had bad experiences and great experiences.

Here are some fact's some of you may not know...The USA produces 90% of their own fuel, but yet imports almost 52%...why? Canada is the largest supplier of US oil...but yet we allow Ontario to import 40% from other contries and Quebec needs to import 90% of their oil requirements, as a matter of fact, Quebec just signed a supply deal with Russia, only problem is that the Russian company is run by some flaky individuals that like turning off the valve every now and then. Thanks to NAFTA, Canada is forced to supply the US with almost 70% of it's oil in case of dwindling or threatened global supplies, what does this mean? well, easy...if Ontario and Quebec were sitting in the dark freezing the US would get the oil first before they do...sorry but thats just wrong! In answereing the question relating to why we pay more per US gallon then the americans do is that we pay so much in tax that it could actually be considered as criminally borderline extortion by a corrupt government. Gone are the days of a governement for the people, by the people...sadly it's now a democratic socialist government were being ruled by that lets us speak until we get too loud then shuts the door in your face. End of the day it all boils down to Greed, deception and misinformation.

Government and Big Business are sleeping together and this marriage will not fail until one gets sick of the other, they will be fine, they'll split and divvy up the loot, only ones getting hurt will be all of us kids in the middle.

Thank you Dick Cheney!

Seem weird that this whole oil scare thing started once Bush came into office. Maybe it was destined to happen and he was in the wrong place, but he does have STRONG ties to oil.

Mdimitri, the demicratic socialist thing has been done to textbook perfection by Canida and the UK the USA is now praticeing a form of demicratic faschist government .that's right I said fascist ,look it up .what it means is the bigest corperations controle the government.the USA is still the best but we all need to step up and vote the bums who we elected out of office and start fresh .maybe we need to start building more nuclear power plants and tap our own oil reserves and become less dependant on imported energy .in fact if we were to stop importing anything from any where ,you would see a world wide colapse of biblical proportions and when the dust cleared the USA would still be here and more prosperious than ever .we can live without them they cant survive without the USA .

I toatlly agree, and if you were to ask anyone (other than a politician) what the word democray means I'm positive that no one will really know how to explain it...let's face it, the government should be afraid of it's people not the other way around. Realistically for anyone to enter the field of politics you can't make a move unless you represent one side of industry or the other...you either support the lobbyists or you support the corporations...then there are all the beauraucrats that need to duck and dodge...what a mess! This is why it takes forever to get anything passed in either the House of Commons or Parliament. And if the Government is too scared to handle a specific bill they pass it on to the Supreme Court to look at...DUH!!! Have you not seen what the heck these guy's have been passing as law over the last 10 years? Damn, no wonder we're so screwed up it's the blind leading the blind...or even better they put an issue or bill on the back burner and let the next administration deal with it...pass the proverbial buck! If the US or Canada were a country in Europe the citizens would have revolted and kicked the currupt bunch out office and set em on fire! No wonder you guy's have the malitia men still there in the US, up here in Canada the Gov't is doing everything they can to take the power away from it's citizens thus making them more submissive and easier to manipulate, energy/labor/business taxes/cost of living...etc are going through the roof and then they give big tax breaks to large companies that take their businesses overseas and import back to you stealing you blind. World market and economy? Does sweet FA for me and my company except now I don't compete with other provinces or states I need to compete with China, Viet Nam, Tiawan, Africa, Pakistan, India...etc. Have you ever heard of workers comp, healthcare, unemployment insur, pension plans, dental plans, human rights...etc in any of these countries and said to yourself "damn wish I lived there"...or better yet, move to their country and try to get something changed in their culture to better represent you...it will never happen.
