Yes Shaggy, be very very careful. You may be smart enough to not do anything stupid but it's the idiots driving around you that will kill you. I have been riding since I was about 6 years old but don't ride street bike any more.
A friend of mine was recently telling me about her daughters boyfriend a few years ago. He bought a crotch rocket and rode it home from the dealer. Never had a bike before so he was being careful. Rode it to her house to show her, then on the way back someone ran a stop sign and almost killed him. The doctors were saying every day for a month, he won't make it through the night. He ended up making it and said he wouldn't buy another bike. A year and a half later he is at park playing ball with some friend when one of them gets him to ride his new bike around the block. Being very careful, and only go 20-25 he made his way around the block. About half way around, a women backed out of her driveway without looking and he hit her. Never saw it coming and killed him instantly.
Not trying to scare you Shaggy, just want you to be careful so we can see more shots of the S10 in Moab

You better be careful! DAMN IT! Go take a riders course along with your permit. You get a discount on insurance for taking the course too. If you want I'll come buy and we'll swap out those sprockets and re-gear it for Zero to 100 rather than top end. More fun to drive that way too.

There is no helmet law in CO is there? When we were there a few years back there wasn't.
Shag, listen to Tim. Helmet or no, you'll want to try the bike at some point and a helmet won't help in a big wipeout. Get you some good leathers too. 9 times out of 10 you'll be butt-skiing down the pavement if something does happen and a good set of leather between you and the road will save some skin graphs later. Yeah they're not always cool but until you get used to the bike laying one down has it's probabilities.

No Helmet Law that I know of, but I have every intention of wearing one. As far as the Leathers...not gonna happen. I am a shorts and t-shirt guy...even if it costs me some skin.

As far as the rehabilitation...I tend to do things right the first time...so odds are rehabilitation will never be an option.

Shags,
There are some things you will learn in bike school you'd never know teaching yourself. It's worth it buddy.
Just like not knowing the pleasure you'll get watching a woman arch her back in orgasm.
You''ll never experience that level of pleasure alone.......Unless you're REALLY flexible.

partsguy...there is no way I would ride without a helmet. Even when I was riding around the block at like 20mph I had the helmet on. I may be dumb...but I am not stupid.
No "S" on my chest. I know I am fragile, I just don't see the point in living scared.
Yes...the nissan does still have floor boards. Was that a Fast and the Furious reference, or a real question? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>It was my brother had one with 289k on it question. He run out of people to inspect it.(no floor boards)

Ever seen what pavement can do to skin, not to mention the flesh below it?
