When using the air pump accessory I screwed in the hose and air was pumping through it as soon as it was attached with out turning on the switch. Is this supposed to happen? I turned on the switch and the air did not come out any stronger. I then turned off and air was still coming out. I saw a message on the dash computer saying service air suspension. I turned off the car restarted and did not receive message again. Can someone please explain to me how this should work?

Had to edit that:
Yes the valve in the cargo area will have pressure any time the compressor is running, so if the suspension is "leveling out" and you attach the hose air will come out. The button that is in the back will turn it on "on demand" for all your airing needs . Hopes that makes sense.

Hi Guys, If you leave the hose hooked up and not attached to a wheel with the pump off it will defalte the air bags. If you drive with it attached it will also deflate the airbags. I had a slow leak flat and I thought it would be easier to leave the hose hooked up to the infalter port on the H2. Well to my suprise in less then a block my rear suspension deflated. I noticed as I was driving prior to that the hose was hissing the air out. So use the air with the truck running and wait for the air suspension to level then hook up and inflate.

oK---So what then, is the on/off switch for? If I understand your explanation, it runs/blows air through the stem as long as it is hooked up to something. The manual says the switch is supposed to be a "push on/off" set up. That would mean pushing "off" stops the flow. I'm asking cuz the used H2 I just bought didn't come with the hose accessory kit and I was gonna piece one together from Home Depo or somewhere if I could not find a kit for sale in the classified section. If the switch doesn't stop the flow I will stick an adjustable valve on my list of parts to get.

Yes, unless the compressor is running to facilitate the air suspension, in wich case you will still get air at the valve in the rear (where the hose hooks up) .
The switch will not overide the suspension function and turn off the compressor while the air bags are calling for air.

Thanks--I think I got it. The switch just turns the compressor on, or off when pushed. If the suspension is being adjusted, the switch will not override that function. Also then, if i leave a hose connected, it will bleed off any air in the system because there is no check valve controled by the on/off switch. I am definitely gonna intall a control valve, or pressure demand thingy attachment on the end of a hose for airin up the tires after sand runs.

Has something happened today very close to deflating the air bags. One of mine blew out!
I was 2.5 hours from home and 15 minutes into a steep hill climb when I hear the loud bang! I looked out my rearview mirror and saw the ground! I had to drive 115 miles with this thing out. I just put my 37's on yesterday so it was a little tight! Hope I didn't break anthing else!

Well, dammit....the same thing happened to me, and the dealer is claiming that its NOT covered under warantee because I have a suspension lift.
Here's the problem:
My tires were low on air, so I started the engine, and began filling up the tires. Since the air was quite low on all of them, it took a while. I turned the hose off at the air inflator switch, coiled it up, and then disconnected the hose. I don't remember air leaking out at this point.
I got into the car and heard a loud pop noise, and then the "service air suspension" light came on. What had happened was that my air bags had deflated so low that they one of them folded in on itself, so that when they tried to inflate again it popped. At least thats what I'm assuming happened, as my mechanic said the air bag looked wrinkled, and had poppsed in that area of the crease....and there was nothing that would rub on the air bag in its location.
Well, I called the dealership (and they know my car by sight, because its got a 4" lift and 37 tires on it) and immediately they told me that it wasn't covered because I had changed the suspension. Now I have to fight this, because the suspension didn't cause the problem, if it was a problem with the compressor.
I'm wondering if anyone else out there has had air bag problems, or the refusal of dealers to cover such things? They are even trying to charge me for the $150 towing bill from the "Free roadside assistance" from 1-866-HUMMER. I am truly appalled at the low quality of service and the bad reps I've had to deal with to get my car back on the road.

Sucks, because I LOVE this truck, have spent more than $87k on it, love it more than anything, and I'm getting treated like I bought a car 1970s POS from a used car lot.

Are you guys with air suspension option stating that the air compressor for the rear is setup OEM to be used for accessories etc from the cargo area of the SUT?
