That path was in fact a road that goes up to an observation station that seems abandoned.
It is much steeper than the photo shows. Lots to do up there.
DRTFYN: Talking out of your ass again? Any place any time...Name your brand H2 or Pinzgauer (ooh, I forgot you don't have one..)

There's actually a trail at Tellico that has a guardrail between a couple of huge rocks. It seems the Heeps kept tumbling over the edge.

I have passed the salten sea many times while going to my parents house in San Felipe Thought it was all flat, Guess I was going to fast to see anything
