Rock chips in windshield?

Anyone notice that due to the shape and design of the windshield that rock chips seem to come pretty easy?

I have had my H2 for 4 days and have already picked up two rock chips (one pretty nasty). None of my other cars seem so prone to this, given how vertical the windshield is I am wondering if others have noticed this too, or just my own bad luck.

I have a few rock chips but none of them are to
bad. I also think it is the shape of the windshield.

Yep, this has been discussed on a previous thread. The near vertical design of the windshield makes it wise to stay away from behind trucks on the freeway, . . . and I mean way behind.

I also pick up way more bugs, and cringe at the sight of overly friendly drivers that insist on pulling over to let you pass.

This is one of our biggest fears - our last car had the same shape windshield and it was $1000 to replace it when it cracked because it had a heat grid inside of it. We figured that the H2 would do the same thing. Good thing we changed our insurance coverage since we got screwed last time.

Before bying my H2,

In the distant past, I had the jeep YJ and TJ
This was a big problem.

The first day I got into the H2, I realized that buying windshields yearly would be the case.

I hope they are not expensive. Ya right !!

Rock chips are a common complaint of Vette owners too. Rocks always seem to find the nice vehicles. You could drive an old clunker and never see a rock. Rocks avoid clunkers, that's the rule.

I just received another fat rock mark this morning. I'm looking at a full replacement every 9 months if this keeps up.

Buddy has it nailed - Murphy's law. The trick is to get the first chip repaired where it is "not too bad" with the plan to replace the windshield on the next hit. Murphy's says there will be no more hits for the life of the vehicle.
