Merry Christmas! The oil companies have decided to give us their version of a holiday present. GAS is going up again, for the first time in 3 months gas prices are on the rise. In the past week prices have gone up 10 cents. Whats the excuss this time since they can't use mother nature like they did the last time prices soared to over $3.00 a gallon.

They are probably going to say that the demand is higher because of holiday season. Just another execuse to make more money I guess...

Are you asserting that demand isn't higher during the holiday?

ree,
no... I am not asserting that demand isn't higher during the holiday seasons...

I've checked the gas prices for last year and year before last year's holiday seasons, and the gas price did not go up during the holiday seasons. At least that was the case in my area.

Interesting. I don't recall (although I can't really trust my memory) a "family travel" holiday when gas didn't jump at least a few cents on or right before, at least where I live.

Did you check prices in your own gas logs? I don't record the prices and I'm too lazy to correlate a gas log with credit card receipts to figure out the per gallon prices.

Ree,
No, I don't personally keep track of gas log.
I use a free service from http://www.gasbuddy.com.
I've just checked national average for past 3 years and you are correct that the price does go up during the holiday seasons. I guess I am lucky that our area did not follow the national trend during the holiday seasons.

I need another 234 posts to catch up w/ you...

I like that site except it makes me laugh because if a station has a price of 2.199 the site posts the price as 2.19 not 2.20 or 2.199.

I havn't noticed prices going up yet but I do not really pay attention to prices. I just go to a certain station and stick to them. And I only buy gas in my neighborhood or the streets on my way to work in an absolute emergency. Diesel at one station is 3.50 and just down the street from him its 2.79.

If you want to see what their profits are from the past year let me know. That will make you wonder if they are actually making a rediculas profit or not.

After getting back from Moab I mentioned the gas price trends. From here to Denver the price went down. West of Denver the price increased.

Think yourselves lucky ! It's $10 a gallon here in the UK (mainly government tax to discourage the use of gas guzzlers)!

Not gonna stop me getting another H2 (even if it costs $200 to fill the tank!!)
