Default HI LIFT mods?

Does anyone have a solution to keep you Hi-Lift from clumnking every time you hit a bump? Mine is mounted up on the GOBI and I have a handle keeper already, but the damn thing clunks really loud every time I hit a bump. I have the 48" Xtreme Hi Lift. I tried the whole bunjee chord thing already. My old truck I had the same mount and the regular 48" HI Lift. I put a handle keeper on there, one bunjee chord on the base plate and one around the moving parts of the jack. THat solved the issues on that one.

Anyone? My radio is about the only thing that gets rid of the sound.

Default Re: HI LIFT mods?

Tim,

If the clunk's from the entire HiLift rattling in its holder, I'd use some kind of rubber bushings. For mine, I drilled a hole through some round rubber door handle stop/wall saver off Home Depot. My HiLift is sandwiched between 2 of that, a big washer and wing nuts. Completely rattle free.

If the clunk's from the 2 parts of the HiLift, I'd use a velcro cord holder. Mine's wrapped around the handle twice and seemed to work really well.

Then again, my HiLift's way at the back on my rear tire carrier. But I never remember hearing any clunking.

Buy some of the medium sized quick fists ( I know it sounds very porno ) from this site. they hold my hight lift, shovel, etc. to the roof rack and dampen the sound. I added a bunch of the mini ones to the bars to hold my fishing rods as well.

IT doesn;t make the noice due to where they mount. Where the jack ratchets is where the noise is coming from. If I were able to take a rubber bunjee chord and wrap the hell out of it, it woudl stop, but than it looks like....well....you wrapped with a bunjee chord and looks like dog craaaa p.

I'm going to take a trip to Fastenall on Tuesday to see what I can find.

Thanks guys.
