A typical F1 event at Gilles Villenueve road course in Montreal brings in about 100,000 spectators.
The BUSCH, not CUP, race brought in 129,000+ spectators for the weekend!!!
I wonder why?
Could it be 43 cars on the track instead of 17?
Could it be the door-to-door banging and hard charging ways?
Maybe it's the crazy personalities?
I bet it's just the pure excitement with bumping and grinding finishes like this one:

It's worth the 6 1/2 minutes to watch.
I bet even more Canadians will be there next year, afterall, you just don't see this in F1 (29 second clip filmed by spectator):

A pole position and a second place finish have earned Patrick Carpentier a shot at a Nextel Cup ride, at least for one race.
The former Champ Car racer and Canadian native will make his NASCAR Nextel Cup debut at Watkins Glen this weekend in place of driver Scott Riggs. Carpentier finished second on his Busch Series debut last weekend at Montreal, after starting from the pole. He will also make his second Busch Series start this weekend.
We'll see....
