First off, thanks to Timgco for sending me the black mirror caps, spare DS mirror and the lights.

This has been covered before, but I'd thought I'd share my experience replacing the caps.

As Paragon advised, use remote and turn both mirrors inward. Then firmly grasp the outside of the mirror and pull off. (The DS popped right off with little effort) Being careful to work around mirror if it does not pop right off.

Use a small screw driver or finger to gently push the tabs on the old mirror cap away from center while using your other hand to pull the cap off. You may have to work around the cap, one tab at a time.

After struggling with this and the cap still not coming off, just pull like hell and it'll come off. It turns out GM sticks some nasty two sided tape on the inside to help hold the damn thing on. Don't worry about the tabs. If you did as I instructed above, most will not break. I didn't break any.

Use more two sided tape on the new cap, I used velcro, so it'll be a pain in the ass next time, too. Slide cap on and it pops into place. Press firmly on the area covering the tape or velcro to make sure it'll stick... real nice, like. Pop mirror back on gently working around it so as not to break it, either.

Now for the passenger side. Repeat everything above, but when the mirror doesn't pop off real easily, just force it. Pull like a moth** fu**er. Trust me on this, it works. Of course it breaks the mirror, too.

It does look good from the front, though. And nevermind the finger.

Thanks again, Tim. Especially, for the Driver's Side mirror.

You did the DS and thought it was sooo easy and rushed on the PS, huh?

Maybe I got lucky but I managed to get the caps off with no breakage and without removing the mirrors.

That would be Lucky Bastid.

When you get ready to do the door handles I have a few dozen pics of that project. Better wait for warm weather -- it's a half day job.

Good shot where you can see the tab holes.

A one-inch putty knife around the edge of the cap did the trick. The tabs were easy but the tape SUCKED!

I wish I'd have seen your removal method first.

The trick to the PSSD mirror is to push the mirror assembly all the way forward. Use the remote inside to adjust the mirror all the way out away from you and than pop it off from the inside, not from the outside in. You did it backwards on the PSSD Ken.

Don't listen to Tim.....He broke his also!

Then again Tim showed his friendship by shipping me a Hummer Band Aid
If you need a mirror glass let me know.N/C
I have about 3 already pulled.
I think I still have the band aid.
