Default plastic rocker covers

Im trying to remove the plastic oem rocker covers. Does anyone know how to remove the rockers/clips without breaking them? Ive tried everything and I keep breaking the plastic, around the area that the clip attaches to, which you then push/snap into a hole in the body. If you can't remove them without breaking them, does anyone have a part number for new clips? Tried looking them up, but no luck.
Thank you.

Anybody? I know some of you switched out the stock plastic for the LE plastic with the cut-outs for the LE steps. Do I just break the clips and order new ones from GM? I don't have the time to wait for new clips since I need to have it re-assembled by tomorrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

It's been a LONG time since I had mine off, but I think you need a trim removal tool to do it properly...and then you still gotta be very careful.

Autozone...Pepboys...whatever, they usually have'm in stock.

EDIT: A quick search turned up this thread where they say you 'have' to break the clips to get them off. Like I said, it's been a long time since I did mine...maybe I did eventually have to break them.
