Please help me identify a part.
My rear lift gate won't unlock. I tested the wire connector and it gets a signal when I hit lock and unlock. It appears that the lock actuator (the black box in the picture that the harness plugs in to) is bad. What do I need to order? Is this the "control assembly"? Thank you for the information and the help.

Re: Please help me identify a part.
Unless you can find a wrecked rig getting parted out, that actuator is not sold seperately. That entire unit mounted on that bracket including the 3 cables is sold as one piece.

Re: Please help me identify a part.
Thank you. Only problem with their great price is the $49.00 shipping and processing fee. Gonna see how much my dealer will charge me for the part. I appreciate all of the help.

Re: Please help me identify a part.
One of the guys on this forum has got to be a parts guy or have connections with the dealer.
I know a couple GM parts guys from the other forums who will give you a good price on factory stuff. Anybody here? Zach?

Re: Please help me identify a part.
Update - My local GM dealer charged me $273 with tax and delivery. I ordered it today at about 4:30pm 3/26 and it will be ready to be picked up at 8:00am 3/27. Looks like once all is said and done I came out cheaper buying local. Thanks for all the help and advise.

Re: Please help me identify a part.
Update - The job from start to finish took a 7mm, a 10mm, a pair of needle nose pliers (optional), and 15 minutes. Thanks again for all of you help.

Re: Please help me identify a part.
Mine just went out last week, won't unlock so I can't open the back. I've found the actuator itself for $70 however how do you get the trim off with the door shut.
I've found the disassembly procedure on here but it says there's 2 push pins on the bottom which are obviously inaccessable with the door locked shut.
Any ideas?!?

Re: Please help me identify a part.
Gonna try to explain but I probably should take a picture. The area around the window where the door panel forms a "shelf" that you could sit a can on, is a flexible area that can be pulled up enough tho get a long skinny arm down. Once that is done you can either unlock the door by flipping the little unlock lever or just squeeze the mechanism that pulls the braided steel lines to open the door. Not a good description, but its the best I can do.

Re: Please help me identify a part.
LoJac,
I just fixed my rear hatch lock today, mine went out as well.
PM me ASAP and I will see what I can do to help you here in town!!!
you'll have to peel back the trim far enough to reach in or use some kind of hard stick that can slide the lever to the opposite direction in order to get the lock to open. The lever slides left/right, pushing it in one direction will lock it while the other direction unlocks it. You are correct the push pins are on the bottom and you will need a special too to get underneath it to pull it up evenly. I have that tool if you need to borrow one. But the big trick is getting enough room from the trim without cracking it to access the locking part that in the center of the hatch/door.
