Default replacing air filter

I have a 2004 H2 with 85000km on it and I was wondering how often I should change the air filter and cabin filters since I dont think It has ever been done. Also should I also change the tranny fluid or any other fluids in this truck yet? Thanks in advance

You should be checking your air filter every time your change your oil, but after 50k+ miles, I'd say you are very long overdue. How often you actually replace it will depend on driving conditions. You could always get a lifetime filter like K&N (clean and re-oil at regular intervals).

Since you obviously don't know the history of your vehicle, I'd also advise getting all fluids (tranny, diffs, transfer case, coolant) changed at this time.

I bought the truck in 2004 with 20000km but I usually trust service guy at the dealership but now that I think of it I dont ever remember him once saying I needed to replace my air filter I guess I need to make a trip to the dealership this week.

Open the hood, open the airbox, and have a look at the air filter for yourself!

Actually take the filter out and bang it on the ground. You'll be suprised how much crap falls out of it. I agree you are long overdue. At 30K miles the H2 filters are usually pretty clogged although they "look" ok with a visual inspection.

i suggest you check your air filter every 5000- 8000 max or every year whichever comes first specially performance air filter to avoid some foam penetrating your engine. that will cause much more trouble.
