Default ABS/TCS system flush

Just received a "reminder" from the dealer's service that I"m due for my 18,000 mi abs/tcs system flush. I've looked in the manual and don't see anything about this. Seems a little soon for this. I have 21k miles on my SUT. Anyone have some input on this?

Dew Hummer in St. Pete FL. Says I'm due for my 18,000 MI 33 point inspection and ABS/TCS system flush. I had never heard of this either. That is why I was questioning their intent.

Call another Hummer dealer and ask about it.

In all the years I've had vehicles with ABS, I've never heard of an ABS system flush. Never heard of flushing brake fluid before. I smell a rat!

Typically its a good idea to flush your brake hydraulic system at about 100,000 km, 60,000 mi or if the fluid is cloudy. At 18,000 mi not required. I would talk to the service manager maybe someone made a mistake on the recomendation. I had a vehicle in our shop today that the work order read" repair for remote start not working" the truck had no remote start. Turns out they wanted a new key fob. Point is too many people in the process and sometimes the line of communication breaks down.

You dont need to flush the system, although it is a good idea. What I do is use the same hand pump I use for adding fluids to my diffs and syphon the old brake fluid out. This keeps you from having to bleed the brakes.

Each time you apply the brakes, it pushes some new fluid in and some old fluid comes to the top. Eventually, all of the old fluid down the lines gets diluted with the new fluid. I do this everytime the fluid gets dark. It does improve the feel of the brakes and brake fluid is only intended to last about a year with normal driving

To each there own i guess, hope you clean that pump real well before using it for that, any petroleum based lubricant in your brake system will swell every seal in the system and your into a huge dollar repair. I find it way more simple to crack the bleeders and push the fluid through and then there is no chance of contamination and you get a more complete flush.

I dont use the pump to add fluid, but you use to remove the old fluid - so there is no risk
