Default Overhead console wiring question

I am going to install a rocker switch into the overhead console to run my new PIAA 580's that I just ordered. I took the small overhead console (SUT - so 2 reading lamps, homelink, and sunroof switch) off and see where I can run the wires, but my question is this: it looks like I can go thru the headliner from the overhead console over to the A-Pillar, but how do I get the A-Pillar off to run the wires down to the fuse box? Do you just pop those little rubber things off of the handle to reveal some screws? Just making sure before I ruin a part.

Thanks in advance -
Trinity

The plugs on the handles are how you remove them. When you pull the plugs the handle comes right off and the A-pillar becomes loose.

Wow! Major thanks for the pics. I hooked up the lights tonight to make sure that I wired everything correctly, and tomorrow I hope to finish the job by mounting a rocker switch in the overhead console using your directions. Thanks again for your help!!

Also, try to find a HELLA rocker switch. THey look factory and mount in the council great. Also pull the headliner down somewhat and try to tape the wires up in there. That way they won;t rattle around. I also taped the wires in that A pillar too. If you use a "fish tape, make sure you don;t snag any of the soverhead council wires.

Excellent suggestions. I followed your ideas tonight and ran all the wires for the switch. It looks great. I had purchased a round, blue light rocker switch from AutoZone made by Pilot. When I clicked it on, the little blue light lit up with no problem. Then I turned it off, and a few minutes later turned it back on, and now no blue light to show that it is on. Not sure what I screwed up, but at this point in the game, I'm just glad to be finished with the install.

It wasn't hard, it's just about 90 degress down here at night with about 90% humidity, so it's like sitting in a sauna in the garage working on this thing.

Now that I have the 2 PIAA 580 driving lights, I'm now getting the bug to finish out the 2 remaining holes in the Warn Light Bar with 2 more PIAA 580 Pencil Beams!!
