Can we sue you for reposting?

At first I wasn't too excited about the Chinese buying the rights to Hummer. But after hearing who it was I'm actually okay with it. Read below:
Quote:
Privately owned Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company Ltd., based in China, will acquire the truck brand, which has been part of GM since 1999. Tengzhong said it plans to keep Hummer's management team.

"We plan to ... allow Humer to innovate and grow in exciting new ways under the leadership and continuity of its current management team," said Yang Yi, chief executive of Tengzhong.

Yang said the deal "will allow Hummer to better meet demand for new products such as more fuel-efficient vehicles in the U.S."

This is good news...

The alternative of seeing Hummer line die would have been a shame

I think this is better than seeing the brand simply eliminated. It prevents any demise for another year or two and keeps H3's on the scene.

Yeah... I'm never the first for anything... Figured someone else posted. But as said ..the brand will stay alive.. God knows what their gonna do to the drive line. after 2010.

Can't see myself with a Rice drive line... I guess it'll be time to Buy Backwards when 2010 hits. Maybe I'll go for an 09 H2

Our company owns some of their equipment for our road and bridge work and they make very good machinery. They are also considered a leader in diesel engine research in China. I wouldn't put them in the same class as our Caterpillar equipment, but they are close and the customer service they provide is outstanding. They also have a lot of innovative design features that have been copied and patented by US companies.
The only thing that concerns me is their plans to build a Hummer plant in Chengdu. Chengdu is in the heart of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake area and I've been told the Chinese government is giving money to those who build or rebuild in the area. Labor is plentiful and cheap there because of the many people still out of work since the quake.

From what I've read and heard,it's more likely this deal will not take place. We'll just have to wait and see on this one.
