Another good example of someone who just hates the hummer concept.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. That is the beauty of living in the USA. Although this article is not flattering to the H3, it is only his opinion. It has always been my thought that authors like him should write non-biased reviews about vehicles and let the consumer make the decision. My opinion is that he has not driven off road much, and is not aware of the true beauty of our H3's. I am enjoying my H3, but agree with some of his gripes. I wish we could have everything we wanted, then i would really be spoiled. I have driven a lot of 4 wheel drive vehicles before, and in my opinion, the H3 is one of the most nimble on road and off road vehicles on the market. If you want a good review for an H3, then go here:

I agree with Babhumv, however I did feel the need to send him and email that he is writing VERY biased articles as a journalist and should take a step back and look at himself and how he reports on things.

Done

Copy of letter written:

Tom,

Just a quick note about your H3 review. It is my opinion that this article equivalent to a hate crime against a human being.

A journalist such as yourself, in my opinion, should be writing unbiased articles and allowing the consumer to decide. The way you wrote the article, makes it sound like you are a bigot. I believe you should pause a minute then look at yourself and how you report on things.

Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion by providing your e-mail.

Sincerely,
David Budlong

"Optional running boards are recommended, especially for those who wear skirts"

At least I think he knows his stuff about that.

I sent him a message telling him what I think about his article and skirts is one of the reasons I took my steps off.

Actually, I did not feel that tainted after having read the article I agreed with his premise (my take) that the H3 would be for someone looking for a capable off-road vehicle who may not be an expert (I'm willing to give the teenagers -MAC-ZT-Steve R- personae that much ). With just 1200 mi on mine, I do disagree with him on the on road feel. I think it rides well. As far as visibility, again, it is not for the driving novice or drivers who lack confidence (as had been written by other critics) on the road. Off-road, I plan on using a spotter or two any ways for the tougher trails. If my life actually allows for significant trips to CO and UT with my G-wagon-driving buddy, then in a 3-4 years after I milk mine for all it can do, I'll probably switch to an H3 with the Adventure Pkg (and maybe V6 or 8 by then?) or a G-wagon (but never an H2).

Here is my take on an obviously biased article (which is what news people do nowadays.)

daytime running lamps.- should be headlamps since the rears aren't lit.

The H3 is 17 inches shorter and 6.5 inches narrower than the H2 and easier to back and park and maneuver into a garage or other tight spot.- Doesn't turning radius help more than the lenght of the vehicle. Hell I have seen people driving accords and other small vehicles that have surprised me that they can even back out of their own driveway.

The styling itself carries downsides. The small side windows that presumably have a purpose in helping protect occupants of the military Humvee from bullets serve no purpose in the H3 except to impede vision in lane changes and backup and to make the spacious cabin seem smaller than it is. The headlamps of cars tailgating at night tend to disappear below the tailgate window's bottom edge, leaving the outline of the vehicle's roof the only hint that it's there.- If the H3 windows really inhibit lane changes than driving is more of a problem than an easy lane change. And if a person is tail gateing me, why is it my problem.

BTW, ETD the G-Wagen is definitely a great vehicle. I test drove one before I got my truck. It almost swayed me but almost doesn't count.

I think a car is something personally, for everyone. I think, what car I drive is a decision who make everyone for itself. In the USA, the streets are wide enough to drive a h1 or h2, for me both are special cars or trucks. And the hummer design is special, other then all the other trucks or suv's. So I think this is the interessting of Hummer. I would like to buy a H2, I like it. But the problem is, that here in Switzerland you dont find a parking zone or garage who have enough place for this truck...so for us, the h3 is perfect. And you have to know, that in Switzerland is the price of a full-loaded H3 same like the price of a H2. But if you want to drive with the hummer all day, you take a H3.

The only part he got right was:"...harken back to earlier generations of SUVs, when only hunters, fisherman and snow removal contractors drove them." That return to relative simplicity is what attracted me to the H3.

In perverse way, I like to see these negative urban reviews of the H3. I don't want all those urban posuers and housewives trading their GCs, 4Runners and Sequoias for H3s. Those who know and use 4x4s will recognize the H3 for its real virtues soon enough.

He must be smoking crack.
The H3 is more bang for the buck than the jeep Wrangler Rubicon, wich by the way it will keep up with off roading.

I agree with swissH3's logic except that the parking spaces, garages, etc. exclude (limit) the H2 here as well.

Best regards and Merry Christmas
