Instincts Take Over And...
So I was leaving the parking garage at my gym the other morning and this ditzy girl failed to look behind her when backing out of her parking spot. Instead of letting her back into me (like I should have), I swerved left and ended up kissing a concrete pilliar head on.
I am VERY impressed with the way the truck handled the impact, I was only going 5-7 mph, but all of the damage was cosmetic, so pretty much everything from the radiator support forward needs to be replaced, not bad considering.

Ouch. Maybe it's just me, but that's a lot of damage for only going 5-7 mph.

Tell me about it, hind sight is alway 20/20. She probably would have only hit my siderails.
There was no structural damage, all cosmetic, I am very happy about that!

Before and After....$6300 in damage ugh! The shop said replacement parts were a nightmare. My insurance company wasn't too upset, I have had USAA for 7 years and this was my first claim.

Glad you got it fixed. It may be just the angle of the pic but it looks like the grille is crooked (up too high on the pass. side)
You can see the leading edge of the hood on the driver's side but you can't on the pass. side plus the space between the bumper and the grille seems to increase as it goes towards the pass. side.
I'm not trying to diss your truck or the work done but after being in the bodyshop business for 26 years, stuff like that stand out.
USAA is a pretty good insurance company.

Re: Instincts Take Over And...
I noticed that, I think the angle of the hood may be off a tad. I am going to have them look at it when I bring the truck back to get the allignment tweaked.

Like I said... no disrespect to you or your truck. I'm not one of those people that try to criticize someone's post but being in the bodyshop business ruins me looking at repaired vehicles.
I'm sure the shop will make it right...

Re: Instincts Take Over And...
I have full confidence they will, because they are a USAA approved collision repair shop, all of their repairs must be guarenteed for life.
I will go over everything alot closer tomorrow, I have faith they will make it right.

Re: Instincts Take Over And...
you got a lot of damage...
I wish that our trucks were built more solid, but they're just like that - I backed into the concrete wall few months ago - I'd expect the ****in wall go down, not my rear bumper crumble at $1100, oh well...

Will the H2 have less damage with same impact? Also the H1?
Thanks. JASTECH

The H2 probably about the same. I kissd an h3 from behind a few years ago while offroading and he had no damage but my radiator support got all bent up and my hood hit my cowl.
The H1 probably would have taken the concrete pillar the F#$% out with just some paint damage.

Rouschdemon "kissed" an h3 with his front end at windrock and all he lost was the light bar off his brushguard. no other damage. it was because he turned around to watch me before he remembered to hit the brakes
