Default Front diff short valve TSB?

Took the family on a road trip and i noticed a large quanity of fluid behind my drivers side tire. Looked like it could possibly have been brake fluid but my resevoir was full so i figured it was safe to drive to the dealer. I was in a hurry to get home(had been driving for 7hours with 3 to go) so my service write up is being mailed to me but the explanation went something like this:

Some of the 05's have too short of a valve for the front differential. You were leaking axle fluid, but we put a longer one on so you shouldnt have any problems. We had a tsb on this issue so we are confident you are good to go.

Anyone ever heard of this? I did a quick search and came up with nothing.

I have seen a few where the fluid level was lower than normal causing the fluid to get hotter and puke out of the vent hose. Usually if any fluid comes out of the vent hose, there is another leak (ie. axle seal or case halves).

Your right its the vent tube...at least someone knows what they are talking about. As far as the quanity of fluid it was basicly coving the inside of my wheel well and on the front part of my nerf bar.

Thick fluid. When air from going down the road and from getting on the wheel/tire gets to it it will coat very well, and a little will go a long way. Now, a puddle underneath the truck... that would be a huge issue.

How it burped the fluid from the diff, though is another issue. There would have to be a reason why it wanted to draw fluid into the hose and not just vent the heated air, unless it was over full somehow, heated up and fluid was covering the vent hose hole, air pressure then forced the fluid out, in a burp.

I would change out your diff fluid to be safe. Maybe it got a good amount of water in there or something?

PHil i think you are right about the location which i why i thought perhaps it was something to do with the brakes. I have a nice road trip ahead of me soon so ill do as advised, pressure wash existing residue and see what happens. I really appreciate the info.
