Does Insurance Cover Aftermarket Parts?
Just last week my H3 was hit on the front right corner panel and caused damage to the Manik Brushguard that I installed. Anyone been in this situation b4, had a winch, guard, rims damaged in an accident and can give me some pointers to ensure total coverage for damages?

I can't say for sure and I think it depends on your insurance company, but I am under the impression that if it's physically attached to your vehicle, then insurance will cover it.

If you are in the "assigned risk" group, chances are your automobile policy does not cover anything aftermarket. If you have a regular policy, depending on the compnany there may be a total cost limit per claim that would be listed on your declarations page. Most companies offer the ability for you to add additional coverage for customization. Call your agent and he should be able to tell you.

Re: Does Insurance Cover Aftermarket Parts?
Mine was coverd. The only difference was the shop would only use genuine GM parts as replacements for items. Examples were mud flaps and step bars.
Cant think of a reason that it would not be coverd. Should have lessend the blow so why not replace your manick cover. If you expect like for like ask your body shop guy to be certain.

Re: Does Insurance Cover Aftermarket Parts?
Thanks all.. looks like I'm good, the collision center is having me shop online for the guard I want, and since the estimate for the part was lower than what I can replace it for, the collision center will take my request and get it approved before ordering.

My son is with USAA and when the car wash bent his gobi rack on his H3 they replaced the entire rack without question. He did have to pay the 500 deductible though.
