S/C installed now I have shifting problems!!!
Hi guys, I had my Magna Charger installed and it was awsome except a mushy second gear shift. I had the corvette servo's installed and it was shifting perfect except on wide open acceleration the rpm will go to 6,000 and the tranny will not shift from 2nd to 3rd. This has happened twice. Does anybody have any input on this?
Update, this no shifting on WOT is happening ALL the time. Does any know whats wrong?
I'm taking it to AAMCO tomorrow but would like as much info as posible.
Thanks

Can't offer much advice other than to say that if I was having tranny problems after a supercharger installation, the absolute last place I would take it is AAMCO. That's like taking a Ferrari to Walmart for an oil change.

Re: S/C installed now I have shifting problems!!!
Tuning issue is what I would guess, I would find a reputable shop in your area that tunes vehicles (any shop that tunes F-Body's, Corvettes etc...) on a chassis dyno. You will not be able to get on the dyno with your rig but a competent tuner using software such as HP Tuners should be able to play with your shift points and rev limiter to eliminate this problem.

I agree 100%..... stay the hell away from AAMCO, you will be sorry you even walked through the door.

Re: S/C installed now I have shifting problems!!!
from my experiance, you will have to rebuild the whole trans with better parts.
i went thru 3 trans after my SC install. but got it right after i found some one to rebuild with all of the best parts they could find for the trans.
it only cost around 1200 for the rebuild and i have pounded on the trans for the last 25000 miles and no problems

Have you tried to use the programmer that came with the S.C. and reinstall your settings??

Re: S/C installed now I have shifting problems!!!
I have the Mag charger and I'm running 8lbs of boost. I am hard on my tranny but have never had a problem. Sounds like a tuning issue to me...

Re: S/C installed now I have shifting problems!!!
Got an update, 2nd gear is gone! The shop said that the Band has broken for second gear. They are going to have to open up the tranny to see how bad it is. Good news is that the tranny fluid is still red.

Re: S/C installed now I have shifting problems!!!
It would be in your best interest to find someone to build your transmission to handle the added power, in my experience the stock trans does not hold up unless you drive it easy. Basically you have upgraded to a performace engine and have it mated to a stock transmission making that your weak link(pretty expensive weak link). How many race cars ya see running a stock transmission?

Oh ya almost forgot, Aamco? Sorry but cant help shake my head and wonder why. Ya get what ya pay for, first rebuild may sound cheap but after the third it starts to hurt a little.

Re: S/C installed now I have shifting problems!!!
Thanks for the input guys. I know you guys are laughing at me cause I said I was taking it to Aamco. Aamco in Canada is alot better than in the USA, each is privately owned and operated and much higher standards. The one in my town treats me very good and has built a bulit proof tranny on my last truck which was a 2000 F350 on 49's with 600Hp and 800Tq, it came with a one year warranty and I had no problems. Anyways I will kept you up to date on the progress on my tranny.

Re: S/C installed now I have shifting problems!!!
Here is a list of what was upgraded in my Transmission:
Shift Kit vette style
seal kit
filter
2-4 band
input spragg
accum piston
rev input drum
z pack clutch kit
700 servo corvette
cost was about $1500
It was definetly worth it!
