OnStar Personal Calling Security Lock - cellular DTC handsfree identification information inoperative key number operation PIN procedure signal telephone VCIM VCU
.
Condition/Concern:
In a situation that the security feature has been enabled on an OnStar Personal Calling capable vehicle, the OnStar Center is able to unlock a vehicle in this condition.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The procedure to do so is as follows:
The owner/account manager must make a call to the OnStar Center.
The caller must inform the OnStar advisor of the situation with the security feature being enabled.
The OnStar advisor will transfer the individual to Customer Care.
The Care advisor will verify all account information, including the original PIN selected by the owner/account manager when the account was initially set up.
Once this is done, an outbound call will be made to the vehicle by the advisor which will unlock the security feature.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
