ok so i was doing some off roading and drove over this patch of super green grass near a pond and before i knew what was happening i was submerged to the doors in a sink hole. i had to call a wreker to come and pull me out with a hydraulic winch. Now i want to buy one to mount on the H3. How strong does the winch need to be and what brand should i purchase?

If you are able to find a mount please share the info with us!

According Ramsey Winch:
Quote:
Vehicle Weight:

To calculate your vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), start with your vehicle's curb weight, then add the weight of the supplies and equipment you'll typically be carrying.

Line Pull:

The rated line pull of the winch must be high enough to pull your vehicle's GVW while overcoming resistance encountered when you're stuck or on an incline. Ramsey Winch recommends that you select a winch with a rated line pull at least 25% greater than your GVW.

As far as I know Warn, Ramsey, and T-Max are winches you would want to look at.

Good luck and keep us informed!

I havn't heard anything good about mile-marker winches... I wonder why, isn't the military using their hydraulic winches?
