My H3 is a work horse, no doubt about it.
Towed a 1991 king cab toyota pick-up truck on a dolly 500 miles. I also packed the bed with 9 cases of beer, and about 300 other pounds of copper stuff.
I made the trip, up and down the mountains, including gas stops in 7.5 hours. It got warm a few times but nothing to mention as serous.
Now, I don't have a photo, and you call me liar if you want. The moving truck with all my shop equipment got stuck in the middle of the shop driveway due to the slope.
I told them to hold what they had, and I was going to get my Hummer and pull them up the rest of the way. Wife said I was just showing off and she didn't think the H3 could do it. HAHAHAHAHA as I walked to go get it.
Got the H3 in position, hooked up my pull strap, told them to put the truck in reverse, and on my count let off the brake and put on the gas. I put the Hummer in low, locked in the rear end, and started to pull.
She started to spin tires at first, lots of rain up here in PA. But once she grabbed the rocks underneath, up the hill we went. The moving guys were all standing around looking like as was my wife.
Of course I played it cool as I had no doubt that my H3 could get the job done.
Now when are we going to get together scouts out and do some off roading?

I had 1200lbs of scrap copper wire in the back of mine last week going to the scrap yard.Didn't even bog the rear end down.Guy at the yard was amazed that it wasn't sagging.

You got PAID for that amount of bright copper wire. I hope you stripped all the insulation off to get top dollar for scrap.
If you don't have a nice roof rack already, you should have enough to buy one, and still have 1000 bucks left to blow elsewhere.

Re: My H3 is a work horse, no doubt about it.
I pulled a rental car up a five foot ditch a few weeks back...in reverse. The guy was there, wife obviously not happy about the way the day started and they wereon the phone with AAA when I pulled up. Got the rope, the guy said" it pretty far down there maybe we should wait for the Tow. i looked at him and said "just go steer" .
Pulled him up over the bank, and he ended up perfectly on the side of the road. I got out, unhooked, told him to have a nice stay in our town. Day not ruined, tourist happy.
