Interesting Oil Filter Discovery----- 07's take a different filter.....
I went to Autozone to get a filter for the Hummer. The books only listed up to 2006, but from 03 to 06 it listed the PH46. I have a 2007, so I figure no change, and I bought 2 ph46's....
So I am under the H2 draining the oil, and I put the wrench on the filter and see ph48..... So, I go back to AZ to get the 48, thinking it might have been an upgrade.... I have the guys use the somputer and look up the 07 h2 and compare it to the 06 h2, and they do not recomend the same filters... AZ does not carry ph48's and cannot order them.....
So, mobil 1 filters are good and they have the m113 that works for the 07.. the mobil for the 06 is m103 or something....
SO, how many people with 07's are using the wrong filter, AND does anyone know the difference between a ac 46 and 48?

The new filter is slightly bigger and has slightly bigger threads.

Why do this on the last year of the 6.0???????? I would guess the 6.2 will take the place of all 6.0's in the trucks also....

So, 2007 is the last of the H2 6.0?

Re: Interesting Oil Filter Discovery----- 07's take a different filter.....
Had similiar experience last week. 06 in the book for the Mobil 1 was one number, but by chance, I asked the guy when checking out to double check the part for the 07. Yep, M1-113 is the new one for the 07.
I just wish Walmart would carry the M1 filter. Now I have to go to Walmart to get the Mobil 1 oil (5 quart bottle + 1 single; it's cheaper and I like the 5 quart bottle - makes it easier to recycle the old), and then Autozone to get the Mobil Filter.
I didn't post my find because I have been on the road most of the week and not at my home computer. Thanks for posting - we will save some others some grief.

This does not have anything to do with an engine change.
For some reason GM changed the threads from 13/16" on pre2007 vehicles to 22mmX1.5 on 2007's. It is not just the H2's. The 2007 Silverado Classic which is the same truck as the 2006 Silverado uses a different filter for example. The 2007 Corvette uses different filter than the 2006 Corvette and so on.
I do know that the AMSOIL EaO47 fits on the 2007's and you cannot find a better filter. http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/eao.aspx?zo=1132530
