Heavy duty ties rod stuff. If this stuff breaks. I’m I out of luck trying to replace with stock tie rod parts. Or should I stay all stock OEM carry stock replacement parts.

Scenario: you’re on the Rubicon, your rock climbing and need to avoid an obstacle ahead of you. You don’t realize your right tire is up against a rock face. You turn right but the tire doesn’t move. You bend your tie rod or break a tie rod end.

Likely or unlikely?

Scenario: you’re at Moab and you drive down into one of those bowels. You start to climb out the other side and you lock your rear dif. Your rear wheels start to spin. You give it more gas, the back end starts to bounce. You bend a tie rod.

Likely or unlikely?

Scenario: You’re divining over boulders in a desert wash. Your H2s skid plates protect the tie rod.

Likely or unlikely?

Sorry I'm a newbe. I buy a lot of stuff for H2. already over $10,000. I'm going to make my H2 better then an H1 if money can to it. Yes I like the H1 but I'm not into tanks. I know I can't get the 16 inches of clearance! But I really like my H2.The under carrage I have already ordered. Being a newbe I thought people would like to see, what, where others can get this stuff. I though thats what we are about. I'm sure you know about this stuff but others maybe wondering what in the hell is he talking about. Let be know how I can make money posting things on this board. I'm all ears.

To hummme,

please forgive me if I broke any rules. this is a great site. like everything I do I jump in with both feet, maybe sometimes without thinking. I'm more of a hard core 4wd guy and tie rods are a weak point of the H2. Please email me and clue me in on some posting manors. vwbaker@cox.net I'm 59 years old, I've made my money, I'm not trying to pull a fast one, and always try to get along.

There has been much debate about the H2 Tie Rods.

Personally I think they are too small. However, all of the replacements I've seen, I feel are too strong, and could cause transfered energy to break a much more expensive part that would be harder to fix.

For now I think the best bet is to carry a spare.

The pic I tried to borrow and paste was too big so I'll have to resize later and post it.
The guy is selling them for $75 shipped.
The OD is 1" and it buts up to the lock nut and extends to the inner boot.
