sorry you've been having probs with Sherman Oaks' service center -- I take my H2 to Thousand Oaks Caddie/Hummer (even though I am in Studio City) and have always been pleased with the service. Don Howard in Hummer service has been very helpful. It's worth the drive to me.
I too am experiencing the popping noises in the front (one of very few probs I've had with my truck -- knock on wood) and will have it checked out the next time I'm up there.
