Re: How long you plan to keep your HUM
How is the noise level of Duramax? Just curious. I am afraid Duramax can make my H2 to sound like noisy work horse pickup truck..... :-)

Re: How long you plan to keep your HUM
My conversion has been problem free (knock on wood). I get around 14 mpg in town and I average 18-19 on the hwy. I drove it from houston to Pennsylvania this summer and averaged 20 until I got in the higher elevation. It's rock solid. The truck sounds great, I love the sound of the turbo. I think the noise level is no problem, it's the diesel exhaust fumes that might be off putting.
I plan on keeping it until someone with a buttload of cash shows up to take it off my hands... If that doesn't happen maybe I can be buried in it.

I agree, cabin noise is minimal. Damn thing sounds like a tank from the outside but cabin noise low. To be honest, the Corsa I had on before the conversion produced more cabin noise than my deisel and my duramax is cat-less w/ 5" exhaust.

In Texas diesel vehicles only have to pass a safety check. I got more crap over my hid lights than anything. Texas emissions no worries.

Re: How long you plan to keep your HUM
hmm that's interesting since the diesel isn't factory. I'm curious how much AZ would cause issues to run a conversion here....

Ditto what H2durmax said. Just safety check. I also have a 2012 TDI A3 without cats and EGR junk removed.

Re: How long you plan to keep your HUM
My H2 has been the most reliable and comfortable vehicle I've ever owned. Since I drove it out of the showroom new in 2006 I still get a thrill every time I drive it. If necessary, I'll re-engine it or have a machine shop make a part if necessary. I can't even count how many snow storms the H2 has gotten me through.

" I can't even count how many snow storms the H2 has gotten me through." I envy you for that ... Im crazy to see how it handle a snow storm ... All I can said is mine is doing very well in 100 degrees ( correction we get in the 60 this morning ) ..

running mine to the ground also!! 200,000 Miles and still running great! People often comment "what year the rig is".... and, when I say "its a 2003", their jaw drops!!
