Just so you know...soon, all orders put in(not those already on order) that include the chrome appearance pack will NOT come w/ the bright chrome roof rails. There will be a credit, and the chrome appearance pack will have a lower cost. In addition, black roof cross bows will no longer be available from the factory, and will only be installed at the dealer (same goes for bright chrome roof rails). The little roof tie-downs will not be standard either -- so be happy if you already own, or are planning on making a purchase in the next 2 months or so.

Woo hoo! I am glad I got mine when I did if this turns out to be true. And just to let you know, I really didn't care too much for the cross bows at first, but now that I have them, I love em! I'll get some use out of them.

it affects production after 8/1...'why' was not discussed...roof racks are super-easy to install, so there probably wasn't a big need to have it done at the factory...H3Builder may be able to shed more light on this than myself..

Sometimes there are constraints at the factory. Either their production line/system is not setup for it or unable to handle certain options yet. To give you one example; I bought one of the first Avalanches and the dealer had to send out the truck to their paint shop to install the roof racks for them. Because the assembly plant wasn't set up to do that just yet. Thus the paint shop had to pre-drill the holes into the roof before they could attach the luggage rack on.
Lastly the dealers can install them for the assembly plants easier and sometimes at a cheaper cost.
