This information applies to 2003-05 Chevrolet and GMC C/K trucks and utilities and Hummer H2.

The memory seat may recall to a more-forward position than previously set. This concern may be difficult to duplicate, and the position may change gradually over time.

Do not replace the memory seat module. Engineering has found the cause to be a coding deficiency in the software of the memory seat module. New memory seat module software was released in TIS version 4.5, dated April 18, 2005.

Thanks for the info Klaus </div></BLOCKQUOTE>What would really be cool is if Software Revision could simply be sent out over OnStar & "Bingo" update complete. Then the next time you get in the car you get a call advising that an upgrade has been successfully installed. Now, that would be cool.

I doubt that will ever happen. OnStar interferes with firmware upgrades. Aftermarket programmers require you to disable OnStar before programming the computer. Onstar can interrupt the data going across the class 2 databus.

Klaus, how would my local GM dealer find this info? Is it just an easy look-up and he's got it? Or is there any other info I can give to help him out?

I'm sure they've seen it, but you can print it out yourself. Here's the link:

So if this is fixed, does that mean that our key fobs will finally have some use to being called #1 and #2? I thought the whole point in that was to remember driver settings??

If you have an 05, just doing this reprogram will not remember 1 and 2. You can have a different module reprogrammed to change that.

I just brought my H2 in for a seatbelt fix, and notified them of the seat memory fix on the gm tech website. They said that they would check into it and let me know.... I should get it back tomorrow, so I'll let you know...

It's been a month or two since I did one last. I believe it's the BCM that you have to reprogram. The dealer will have to call GM and get what is called a VCI#, which is basically a vehicle specific reprogram number. They will have to tell GM what they are trying to do, and GM will give them that #. This is a little bit of a pain in the rear, so if your dealership doesn't want to help you, expect them to give you a line saying it can't be done. But it can be. WE've done it to 6 or 7 trucks.

Just got the rig back from the local dealer and they reprogrammed the seat module. We'll see what happens...

Just a quick update, it's been a week now with no problem with the seat memory recall. It seems to be working perfectly!

If the seat memory recall is in the BCM, why does removing the stock stereo disable this feature?

Because the radio works with the whole system. The radio sets the presets to driver 1 or driver 2's settings. If you take any important piece out of the puzzle, it won't work right.
