143 Days
The first time I read this quote I thought it was a joke and then I
realized that it is dangerously true. Then I really started pondering it
and thought how would this apply to our own lives/careers??? Let's look
at it again to see how absurd it is.
"Barack Obama has 143 days of experience in the United States
Senate"?
You couldn't get a job at McDonald's and become district manager after
143 days of experience. * You couldn't? become chief of surgery after
143 days of experience being a surgeon. * You couldn't get a job as a
teacher and be the superintendent of schools after 143 days of experience.
* You couldn't join the military and become a ranking officer after 143
days of
boot camp and advanced training combined.* Even if you are a good liberal...
you couldn't get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor
after
143 days of experience in the NBC news room.
BUT...
From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to
the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee,
he had logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. The remainder
of the time he has been on the campaign trail. * That's how many days
the Senate was actually in session and working.
After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be
Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of
Ronald Reagan and other great U.S. Presidents, in 143 days?
He has NOT authored a single bill in the U.S. Senate. He has not authored
a single resolution in the U.S. Senate. He has not even authored a
single bill in the ILLINOIS STATE SENATE. He has had NO experience as an
executive. He has never been a leader of men IN ANY CAPACITY unless
assistant teaching college classes for 7 years counts...
He is merely a personable guy who became "Popular"? when he delivered
a great speech that was written by someone else at the Democratic
Convention in 2004. AND now thousands of people seem to think he is
"qualified" to lead the NATION.
Would you be comfortable with someone at your workplace becoming the CEO
with only 143 days of experience?? (That's 4.76 months!)
I realize we all have to start somewhere and I too think that Senator Obama
might BECOME a great statesman. But after 143 days, that's all there is
- a start.
He is the proverbial "wolf in sheep's clothing" AND, strangely, a large
sector of
the American public seems to feel comfortable with this and are campaigning
for him.
We wouldn't accept this in our own line of work, yet some are OK with
this for the President of the United States of America??
Come on folks, we are not voting for the next American Idol!
