what can go wrong??
hows it going my fellow jeep haters?
i got a dilema here. i just recentley lifted my sut with the fabtech kit everyone here has and put 35 swampers under it.............it looks like $hit. the tires say 35 but this damm truck makes em look like 31's. so im done. im getting a great deal on some tires from someone but the are 39's! i am almost certain that i am gonna have to re gear......should it be a 4.56? if i wait a couple of months will the stock 4.10s be able to hold up? even with wheeling??

Re: what can go wrong??
who the hell told you; you should put 35s with a 6" Fabtech lift????? 35" is the stock height. I have 38"s just with a Truxx lift. (~3"-4" with keys cranked)
39"s you can deffenitly fit, BUT I wouldn't recommend them for wheeling, you wanna clear those big boys when you full flex, so I would go with 39 of 40s(only with way negative offset wheels) for the street, and 37-38s for offroad.
And get rid of those 35s
Do you have any pics of the whole truck??? I would like to see how it looks like.

Re: what can go wrong??
I agree with RD.
I am running 39.5 IROKS on my stock wheels. Thus, I would recommend a 38 if you are mounting them on aftermarket wheels (which you obviously are) or a 39+ if you still had the stock wheels......as offset makes a HUGE difference on what will clear and what won't.

Re: what can go wrong??
i will put up pix real soon. the rims have a 4.5 offset. is this good enough? the tires that im getting a deal on are 39.5 swamper truxs sts. does 1 inch really make a differance? they say 39.5 but the website says 39. the width is 15.2, but on the toyos that alot of people here run are 14.6. once again does .7 of an inch make that big of a deal? and no one ansered me about the gears? what would happen if i ran them for a couple of months without changing grears???
thx all!

Re: what can go wrong??
so i tried the 39x 15.5 super swampers and they were just barley wide. i was told by my local 4x4 guy that i can run hub centric spacers. 2 inch wide.......the 39s looked so bad ass, but i dunno about spacers.....n e one????

Re: what can go wrong??
First we need pictures..... and 2nd... You have to remember the offset of your wheels, what offset do you have? with that lift and tire size you wanna be no more than -24mm offset, prefferably in the -44mm to -50mm range in order to clear fine, if not as soon as you turn and flex you will rub.
Spacers.... I wouldn't get anymore than 30mm wide or you're risking them to brake with those super heavy tires, I didn't trust them before to go offroad but when I went to Windrock last year there was an H2 with green keys, 37's and spacers on and he said he never had a problem with them wheeling, never broke in over 3 years, and he went through advanced trails too.
Anyways, ... good stuff! post some pics!

Re: what can go wrong??
Alright so... I just researched your wheels and if you've got 20" then you're running 20x9 wheels with -12mm offset.... Way wrong with those size tires.
You need at Least a 10" wheel (10-12"), and that offset needs to be at least -24mm or higher.
Spacers might help, but I would get new wider wheels all together, just my two cents.

Re: what can go wrong??
With Stock 4.5" backspacing and a Fabtech 6" lift you should be fine.
I am not a fan of spacers as the H2 already does a good job at eating hubs in stock form. But they are safe to use. Just put more stress on the hubs causing them to wear faster.
The 4:10 gears will hold up fine to larger tires but you going to miss allot of the low end torque you used to have.
My only concern when going to a 39+" tire is axle strength. I have 37's and can easily break a 1/2 shaft when I lay the throttle down.
Alot of the guys i know running tires over 39" always carry spare 1/2 shafts because they break them so often. My other worry is Diff and xfer case damage with tires that big too. I know the drive train on the H2 is stout and on a light weight buggy they would do fine with those big tires. But the H2 is a damn pig lol.

I have been checking balance masters out for a future mod but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Maybe it's an option for you?
BTW: Nice set up!

Re: what can go wrong??
I want to put 38's on my H2 with a Rancho 4" lift but I don't know what rim to get. Right now I have a 20x9 with a 4.5" backspacing and ranchos site say I need 6" backspacing but that is for a 40x13.50x17" tire. What is the offset?

Re: what can go wrong??
im not sure what you are asking about the backspace since you already know what you have? are you sure about that 6 inch backspace for that kit.....from what i was told i couldnt use humvee wheels because 7 inch backspace messed with steering components? N E who, here are more adapter pix. these are not the cheap billet aluminum type either. These babies are SOLID. i will get more pix of the front and different angles for you guys.
