Hummer Helps the Rubicon
I'm very pleased to announce that Hummer (General Motors Corporation) has kicked in to help Friends of the Rubicon and the Rubicon Trail Foundation. WOWOWOW This is our first corporate donation either way. Toyota, Jeep, Ford, etc. have yet to kick in like Hummer just did. GOOD for them and thank you Hummer and GMC.
I just received a box of goodies for our next couple work weekends. In the box were dozens of pairs of good work gloves, several hooded ponchos, some skeeter spray, dozens of bottles of hand-sanitizer, and a first aid kit I can pack along on projects. It looks like several hundred bucks worth of stuff for us and our work weekends. AWESOME. And to boot, Dennis Mayer, Treasurer for the Rubicon Trail Foundation is working with their Communications Manager, Dayna Hart to receive a cash donation to the Foundation from Hummer. WOWOWOWOW.
Further more, about a half dozen Hummer folks (and their Hummers) are going to show up on Doug Barr's Tahoe Side work weekend, July 22nd, to help us do the field work. Now THAT is what I call a manufacturer stepping up to the plate to do their part to help us keep the most famous 4wheel drive trail in the world alive and well.
If you get a moment, drop Dayna a short email and thank her (it was her initiative) and Hummer and General Motors Corporation for helping out the most famous volunteer group in the world -- Friends of the Rubicon.
thanks,
Del

i bet if a group of hummer drivers saved the life of a traveling pack of like 20 non-hummer offroaders, they'd go to their message board, say "well, thanks, i guess", but it would only last about 2 or 3 posts before it was back to "yeah, but they're total mall machine arsemobiles"
