That doesn't seem like a lot of chrome to me?! I personally think the stock '09 wheels and tires have the best look on the H2's. You really dont see a lot of them around either,,, as a matter of fact I have never seen one here with them on...
Plus you have the Limited Edition Ultra Marine which I would think would take away from the value and look if you take the rims off. Only the Ultra Marine 08's and all 09's had that wheel/tire combination... I have never seen that color in person, I bet its really nice...

Re: H2 Duramax
wow holy s#!t, whatta dumb ass, I didn't really know or appreciate the "Duramax" part of this thread until I just youtubed it! For some reason every time I would see a duramax post here I would disregard it caus of the "diesel" part. I just thought it was loud clattering heavy clunker motor, that people threw in their H2's when they replaced their old broken/tired motor. I figured it was a "cheap" diesel motor they found in the junkyard or something!!! Jeez, Im not even laughing on this one...
Next I hear StockStar coming my way with his famous quote, and I will agree with him,,, ""We should revoke his "Hummer Veteran" tag under his name and replace it with newbie"... LOL
ok I gotta get back to the Predator Duramax videos on Youtube!!

Re: H2 Duramax
Glad y'all like it... I bought it already converted back in May, it was at the ford dealership on there used car lot. The guys there had no idea what they had and it was priced to steal! Plus it was about to go to auction, apparently this vehicle is something that raises flags with people looking on a used lot.
I made a call to Mash Motors and asked about the build, when I told him it was Ultra Marine he said I was in luck cause he had only done one that color. Mike Mash was very helpful and talked to me about the truck for about 45 minutes. He told me that the guy that owned it previously spent $32k on the conversion. ( FYI - Mash Motors conversions are a little more expensive than others I've seen but he is putting in motors he gets direct from GM with insanely low miles ) It's an 2008 that was converted @ 40,000 miles the duramax is an lmm that had less than 1,000 miles on it when it was transplanted. I found the truck at the dealership with 54,000 miles on the odometer it now has 70,000 on the truck and around 31,000 on the driveline.
Anyway I bought it for a steal and I love it! Thanks for the comments guys.

It's weird, on my last 3 used Hummers, I didn't even look under the hood when I bought them. I would of bought yours at that dealership and probably resold it many years later and I would have never know what I had either up until this post! lol
As shocked as I was to see that $32k price on yours, I just searched and Teakatoys and another retailer both have it at $40k! I was so into doing this mod until I saw the pricetag!
I still do have a few questions on the Duramaxes. I can't hear it on any of the youtube vids, but do they make that annoying diesel ticking noise, it doesn't seem like they do? Yes, sorry I find it annoying though I know some people dont... and also I noticed some of them blow a black smoke outta the exhaust, is that because of the diesel? I obviously know nothing about diesels if you haven't noticed yet...
Oh another question too, what the pros and cons compared to a supercharger, other than price? There's a guy on Ebay that does the blower for like $6-7k installed.

Re: H2 Duramax
@s c5519
The duramax is actually pretty quiet inside the truck, though you do hear the turbo... but I love that sound. The black smoke from the exhaust is unburned diesel, this is usually because the person is running a programer or tunner on the vehicle and it has increased the fueling and the driver has his foot in the floor. Under normal everyday driveing the black smoke is a non issue it is directly related to how much pedal you use. I have a ppe hot+2 programer on mine at a mild setting and it only smokes when I put my foot in it. However in the world of diesel some people find the black smoke to be a must and hop there rigs up to produce excesive amounts of it.
As far as the pros and cons go...
Pros
-more mpg 17-22 I have seen people say they are getting better but this is what ive seen.
-more horse power and torque. I'm running a mild tune on mine and its pushing 500hp
- longevity. diesel motors are know for running for 300k with proper maintnace
-awesome. It just is.
Cons
-diesel cost. A higher price tag came with the new low sulfar diesel they are selling at the pumps and with the new requirements on clean diesel vehicles.'
-repair and maintnace. Everything on that motor is expensive.
Hope that helps.

Re: H2 Duramax
Thank yes, very informative, especially the part of people preferring the black smoke! I bet it's kinda a James Bond thing, they feel like they are leaving others in a cloud of smoke....
I didn't realize it had a turbo too, that's all the difference.. and the sound, yes! I love the sound of turbos and superchargers. That really was quite the find!
$6k isnt too bad for one, teh guy on ebay is in NC... There doesn't seem to be anyone around that does that here in New England. Callaway is in CT but I think they only do Vettes and Camaros and I think a Silverado. I gots to call them though...

Re: H2 Duramax
I called Callaway, they do not do not do Hummers... They are looking into who else might do superchargers in the area but it doesn't look good... Too bad caus I woulda paid more knowing they are one of the best...
Predator looks like they know what they are doing but they didn't seem to have too many H2's in their vids and pics. They seem to specialize in H1's, which probably helps... But if your near the area and have their support after, why not go for it!

Re: H2 Duramax
Predator will do a good job. I did a lot of reading into and researching them a year or two ago when I was thinking about the idea. I would go as far as to say they would do a better job and have probably done more H2's than others based on their experience and how technical they are.
This was all before I got laid off during the economic depression though, so haven't been able to afford the idea since. If I could though, I would go with Predator. Though they are a ways away, but I know they back up their stuff and will take care of it after the swap.
